Bring Your Change to Church - a Capital Campaign "Fun"-raiser. Lent is a 40 day season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving that begins on Ash Wednesday and ends at sundown on Holy Thursday. It's a period of preparation to celebrate the Lord's Resurrection at Easter. During Lent, we seek the Lord in prayer by reading Sacred Scripture; we serve by giving alms; and we practice self-control through fasting. The current regulations for Fasting and Abstinence during Lent are as follows:
- Individuals between the ages of 18 and 59 are required to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday by having only one full meal and two smaller meals that together are not equal to a full meal.
- All over the age of 14 are required to abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday and Fridays during Lent.

We invite adult parishioners with any chronic pain or illness to a parish-based, spiritually supportive Discussion Group developed by the national ministry called The Peace in the Storm Project. The Group will meet monthly on Saturday mornings from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. The February meeting will take place on February 15. The observance of National Marriage Week (February 7-14) is an opportunity to focus on building a culture of life and love that begins with supporting and promoting marriage and the family. Our theme for 2025 is “Marriage: Source of Hope, Spring of Renewal. Pursue a Lasting Love!” The love between a married couple mirrors the love of Christ for his Bride, the Church, and is expressed daily - not just on Valentine's Day.
This Sunday, Feb. 2, is the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, also known as Candlemas Day. Bring your candles from home to be blessed after Mass or, for your convenience, the Altar Society will be selling boxed sets of two candles for $5.00.
The Feast of St. Blaise, patron saint of ailments of the throat, is Feb. 3. There will be a general blessing of throats at the end of all Masses this weekend.

The Feast of the Epiphany celebrates the joyful culmination of the Magi's search for the newborn King whose birth was heralded by a star. To celebrate this feast, the SMM Men's Club and the KC Ladies' Auxiliary will sponsor a King Cake breakfast of coffee and a slice of king cake in Massett Hall Cafeteria following the morning Masses on Sunday, January 5th.
