Local Catholic Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Boy Scouts recently held their annual awards ceremony at Transfiguration of Our Lord Church. Archbishop Aymond presented religious emblems from the National Catholic Committee on Scouting to over 50 scouts from the archdiocese. Five of those scouts are members of Pack 490 here at St. Mary Magdalen. Harry Berggren received the Guardian Angel medal. Grant Watkins was presented the Light of Christ medal. Receiving the Parvuli Dei emblem were George Barnes, Cylar Grzych and Griffin Marlowe. Two Girl Scouts representing St. Mary Magdalen, Zooey Grzych and Cate Whalen, earned the Mary, the First Disciple award. SMM parishioner Carson Varnado from Troop 269 chartered by the American Legion Post 350 received the Ad Altare Dei emblem.
We also recognized two St. Mary Magdalen Scouts, John McNally and Zachary Ward, who have earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest award available to a Boy Scout. This award represents many years of dedicated effort and a spirit of cheerful service to others which is a basis of good citizenship.
Congratulations to all our scouts whose dedication to God, Country, Others, and Self give witness to the true calling of every Christian. More information on the Scouting program at SMM can be found at https://stmarymagdalenchurch.com/parish-life
