The Novena to the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit Novena is the oldest of all novenas. It was first
made at the direction of Jesus when He sent His apostles back to Jerusalem to await the coming of the Holy Spirit on the first Pentecost.
Pope Leo XIII wrote, “We ought to pray and invoke the Holy Spirit, for each one of us greatly needs His protection and help. The more a man is deficient in wisdom, weak in
strength, borne down with trouble, prone to sin, so ought he the more go to Him who is the never ceasing Fount of Life, Strength, Consolation and Holiness.”
