The American and Papal flags that have graced our church since its founding were showing their age and have been retired. Through the generosity of the St. Mary Magdalen Altar Society, we have new flags for our church. On Sunday, June 2, the Boy Scouts of Troop 490 presented the flags to be blessed by Fr. Chris.

After 42 years of service, our music director Mark Schluter retired. We thank him for enhancing our liturgies and celebrations with the gift of music. We also bid farewell to the SMM Youth Choir who sang their final Mass at St. Mary Magdalen at on May 19, 2024. , Their talents will be greatly missed. The Knights of Columbus Ladies' Auxiliary will be collecting diapers & baby wipes for Catholic Charities' Access Pregnancy Center of Metairie at ALL Masses the weekend of May 18-19. Parishioners are asked to donate diapers, wipes or gift cards.

In preparation for Pentecost Sunday on May 19th, all are invited to pray the powerful Novena to the Holy Spirit after the 8:30 a.m. weekday Mass in the chapel. The Novena starts on Friday, May 10th and ends Saturday, May 18th. You can also say the novena prayers on your own. Novena pamphlets can be found at all Church entrances.

Team St Mary Magdalen and Team St Therese Academy had a great turnout at the Born to Run Race in Lafreniere Park for the Women’s New Life Clinic. A great time was had by all. Our parish will be hosting a book and media fair on the weekend of April 20-21 at all the Masses. Sisters from the Daughters of St. Paul in Metairie, LA will be here with a wonderful selection of Catholic books for all ages. This will be great op- portunity to get something to deepen your Faith and spiritual life.
On Sunday April 21 KC Ladies Auxiliary will host thier latest Sit and Paint in Masset Hall (caferteria) from 2-4 PM. All ages welcome. Lite refreshments will available. Cost is $20 for a 11 x 14 canvas and all you need to paint a beautiful art work of tulips. Must register by April 14 so supplies can be ordered.
